Under an African Sky
Forthcoming 2026
Welcome! I’m so glad you found your way here, from wherever in the world you’re reading this.
Once upon a time, stories began in faraway lands. Mine still do. I grew up on fairy tales, stories that carried me across oceans and into other lives. Today, through fiction, I try to do the same for my readers.
In a world where we are more connected - and disconnected - than ever before, I write stories that cross borders: geographical, cultural, and generational. Whether set in South Africa at a time when the country was poised between a painful past and an uncertain future, or a quiet Greek island during lockdown, my stories invite you to enter unfamiliar places and view familiar truths through a new lens.
I hope you’ll feel at home in these faraway places.
My debut novel, Under an African Sky, is set in South Africa, the country where I was born. It’s a story about two women connected by a friendship of unspoken understanding. The unlikely pair, one a Greek-Cypriot immigrant, the other a local South African, find their lives pulled into the undertow of a nation in transition. As apartheid begins to unravel, the country teeters between hope and unrest. The dreams each one holds for her children are reshaped by forces beyond their control and the friendship is tested to breaking point. History is seldom kind to individuals, but sometimes, even as a country convulses with pain, the human spirit has a capacity to endure beyond understanding. My stories often center around women whose strength reveals itself not through grand gestures, but in the choices and sacrifices they make, the secrets they keep, and the lives they rebuild.
From wherever you are visiting, I’m glad our paths have crossed. You’re warmly invited to wander through these pages. You’ll find more about my debut novel, the journey behind it, and the themes to which I return again and again.
